Not quite sure how to get here? Don’t stress…it’s easy. Getting to Jindabyne is like following your nose home. You'll gravitate towards it by car, plane, bus or coach with a sense of adventure in your heart.

Driving

The drive from Sydney to Jindabyne is five hours, from Melbourne it’s seven hours and Canberra is two hours. The slopes of Thredbo and Perisher are only 30min drive from Jindabyne in good conditions and the Bullock’s Flat Skitube station is 20min, with plenty of parking.

Bus

Sit back, relax and start your trip to the snow with less stress thanks to the wide range of bus services that run all year round to Thredbo.

Parking

If you’re visiting Jindabyne for the day you can park your car in one of the many car parks close to the village and mountain.

 

By Air

The Snowy Mountains airport is located just 35km from Jindabyne. Flying to and from the Snowy Mountains is the fastest way to enjoy everything the region has to offer. Flights between Sydney Airport and the Snowy Mountains Airport are operated by Rex Regional Express, which has a fleet of 34-seater Saab 340 aircraft.

Canberra Airport is just a 2 hour drive from Jindabyne and a 40 minute flight from Sydney. Canberra is within a two hour flight from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. In addition to these state capitals, daily flights also connect Canberra with Adelaide and Perth. Direct flights are also available to Newcastle, Singapore and Wellington, New Zealand. Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Virgin and Fly Pelican offer regular services to and from Canberra Airport.

Jindy in Winter

In winter, Jindabyne is around 30min drive from Perisher and Thredbo, or you can drive to Bullocks Flat, park the car and catch the Skitube to Perisher or Blue Cow. You can access Charlotte Pass for a day of skiing or snowboarding via the snowcat transfer from Perisher. There are guided backcountry tours, as well as snowshoe and cross-country ski tours and lessons with companies like Alpine Access Australia and K7 Adventures.

Jindy in Summer

In the summer months Lake Jindabyne is excellent for fishing and water sports. The horse riding tours are very popular around Jindabyne, with Thredbo Valley Horse Riding offering rides from one hour to half a day. At Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa, not far from Jindabyne, you can try Segway tours, canoeing and fishing, and there are mountain bike trails to tackle. Thredbo has many exceptional mountain bike and hiking trails in the summer months. You can even take lessons if you want to learn to mountain bike.
